From the minute I called them for a quote to when they unloaded the last box off the truck they were fantastic. The team who moved us were professional and even though we had a couple of hiccups they handled it with ease. I've used College Hunks for junk removal and moving and they are top notch. Initially I wasn't going to go with CHHJ/Moving because I thought that the quote was too high...but after being flaked out on by one company, and getting several other absurdly high quotes for moving, I went back to them to schedule an estimate. From the moment I called to schedule with CHHJ through the completion of my move, I had peace of mind that I'd be taken care of every step of the way. Jonah came out to do an in-person estimate within 24 hours of calling to set up an appointment. During that 24 hour time period I got a reminder about my appointment to confirm the time still worked for me. Jonah was professional, one-time, courteous, straightforward, communicative, and empathetic towards my needs - even when it came to cutting expenses. He was transparent about everything from start to finish. Costs were simple; flare fee for labor based off an hourly rate depending on how many movers + a flat fee for the truck. At the time I didn't think much of it, but CHHJ also has a 5.5 hr max - meaning, you pay no more than 5.5 hrs of labor + flat fee truck. Given I was moving from a 3rd floor to a 3rd floor, and needed help with packing, this actually saved me a lot of money. I underestimated how difficult moving was going to be and I'm relieved I had Jonah and Chris to move me the day of. On moving day, I was given a 2 hour window with a courtesy call when they were on their way. Jonah an Chris arrived about 0845 (window 0800-1000). They both worked non-stop the moment they arrived. I even asked them to take a break (didn't tho) because I felt bad about all the stairs, and I was shocked at how they just were busting it out. It was my 10th time moving in the past 8 years and it only gets harder for me...despite the fact I virtually have zero furniture - I had no clue where all my crap came from, so they also had to pack more than expected in addition to physically move me. Considering I was not as prepared as I could have been for them, Jonah and Chris went above and beyond. A huge pet peeve of mine is when my things are just randomly thrown in a box under assumption, without consideration...but every step of the way Chris took the time to stop and ask what was going. Jonah was overly protective about packing my stoneware - which is appreciated - especially when it came to my glassware. During unpacking, I found it difficult to justify the amount of waste for some crappy $40 plates, though... regardless, I appreciated the consistency in consideration for my things. One thing to definitely keep in mind, if you want proper packing service, you need to specifically request it and pay for it separately. Considering I didn't pay separate for packing, I'm grateful to them for the time they took with my things. When we unloaded, it took a little less time, but the three flights of stairs were killer. Even after an hour or two of unloading, Jonah and Chris made sure that I didn't need anything moved or unpacked before leaving. I paid what I expected to pay at the time I was quoted the estimate and would absolutely hire CHHJ again. Three days later I did, to get rid of moving trash...I contacted Jonah the day after my move, and 36 hours later he came by and made a bunch of boxes disappear from my apartment in 10 minutes. CHHJ is worth the investment. They're your peace of mind during one of the most stressful times of your life.
