When Should I Start Planning My Move?
Most People Start Their Moving Plans 4-8 Weeks Before They Move
At College HUNKS Hauling & Moving, we know that each move is different. Over the years we have found that most people start making a moving plan 4 to 8 weeks before they move. The first—and the most important—decision you will make is choosing a mover. Because there is some research involved in selecting the mover that best fits your needs, you should start looking into scheduling the move a few months before the big day.
When selecting your moving company, you have many options so we recommend choosing a mover that you feel comfortable with. We recommend calling to ask questions, asking friends or family for recommendations and tips they picked up on during their move, etc. Moving prices will also play a role in selecting the moving company that you will work with, but keep in mind that you get what you pay for—a lot of movers can get your items from one place to another, but you want to choose a mover that will treat your belongings with respect and create a stress-free moving experience.
Consider the services offered by the movers you are considering to ensure that they can accommodate your needs—whether it’s a local move or a long-distance move—are they experienced enough to know how to handle special items such as large TVs, plants, works of art, etc. Once you have chosen and booked your mover, you can move forward in your moving plan, and checking items off your checklist.
