College Hunks Hauling Junk And Moving Franchise Gets Behind Fundraising Efforts For Children’s Hospital

November 23, 2015

Being a part of the community is foundational for College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving franchises, who find amazing and fun ways to give back

Ted Panebianco is a busy guy — he’s president of College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving’s Long Island and Greater New York City moving and junk removal franchise. But Ted is never too busy to help out a worthy cause, and when kids are involved, he and his team are all hands on deck.

“We are the studio sponsor for 106.1 BLI, which is Long Island’s No. 1 radio station,” Ted says. “We also are a sponsor of its sister classic rock station, WBAB. They let us know that they were putting together a radiothon for Cohen Children’s Medical Center, and I knew I wanted our franchise and team involved.”

College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving of Long Island and Greater NYC donated $10,000 to the Cohen Children’s Medical Center as part of a radiothon fundraiser.

Major facility, major needs

Cohen Children’s Medical Center is part of the North Shore-LIJ Health System and is one of the top children’s hospitals in the United States. In addition to world-class physicians, nurses and staff, it has a policy of never turning away a family for inability to pay for treatment. That meant $12 million in donated care last year — and a need for ongoing community fundraising.

“We donated $10,000 directly to Cohen, but we also put $5,000 towards promotion and awareness for the radiothon itself,” Ted says. “We spent two days at the station helping and supporting any way we could. We were one of two phone-bank title sponsors, and we sponsored two ‘power hour’ spots — and then doubled down and supported even more.”

College Hunks = community involvement

The radiothon was just the latest way that Ted’s team has jumped in to help local causes. As a member of the Huntington Long Island YMCA’s board of directors, Ted makes sure that organization gets plenty of support, and it along with the medical center were the primary charitable beneficiaries of his team’s efforts in 2015. Other worthy groups who have gotten a boost from the College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving junk removal and moving franchise deal with ovarian cancer and breast cancer awareness, he says.

“I can’t say enough about our employees, that they are willing to go above and beyond to help out the community,” Ted says. “They really do live the values of College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving and embody our corporate culture. Because we wear our green-and-orange colors to these events — not to mention taking along the trucks — people know who we are and why we’re there. People learn what we’re all about, we help a worthy charity, and we get our name out into the community. It’s a win all the way around.”
