How We’re Giving Back: Our Community Volunteering and Donation Drives
At College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving, giving back isn’t just something we do. It’s part of who we are. Our mission, “Move the World,” is about more than moving furniture or hauling away unwanted items. It’s about making a positive impact on the people and communities we serve every day.
Whether it’s helping families recover after a storm, supporting food-insecure children, or partnering with local charities for donation pickups, our team is committed to making a difference. Here’s a look at some of the ways we’re giving back and how you can get involved too.
Fighting Food Insecurity with US Hunger
Summer can be especially tough for families facing food insecurity. With schools closed, many children lose access to free or reduced-price meals they rely on during the school year. That’s why our partnership with US Hunger (formerly Feeding Children Everywhere) means so much to us.
For every completed job, we help provide nutritious meals to families in need. Thanks to the support of our customers, we’ve already helped deliver over 5 million meals, and the number continues to grow.
If you’d like to join the fight against hunger, consider donating to US Hunger directly or volunteering at a local food pantry in your area. Even small efforts, like organizing a neighborhood food drive, can make a huge impact.
Moves That Matter: Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence
Every October, in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we offer free and discounted moving services to survivors of domestic violence through our Moves That Matter program.
Leaving an unsafe situation can be overwhelming, especially when financial barriers stand in the way. Our HUNKS step in to help survivors start fresh in a new, safer space.
If you know someone who may benefit from this program or if you’d like to help, reach out to your local domestic violence shelter or organization to see how you can contribute. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading awareness, every effort matters.
Helping After Natural Disasters: Hurricane Relief Efforts
When disaster strikes, our teams rally together to help. During recent hurricanes, including Hurricane Milton, our crews partnered with local organizations and city governments to deliver urgently needed supplies and assist with cleanup efforts.
We’ve helped fill trucks with donations, delivered emergency goods to affected areas, and provided curbside debris removal services. Throughout it all, we made sure our teams and communities stayed safe.
Partnering with Local Charities for Donation Pickups
Every day, we help customers clear out unwanted items. But instead of sending everything to the landfill, we make donation a priority.
We’ve partnered with local charities, thrift stores, shelters, and donation centers across the country to give gently used furniture, clothing, toys, and household goods a second life. Whether it’s helping stock a local Habitat for Humanity ReStore or supplying essentials to families in need, we’re committed to reducing waste and giving back.
Tip for readers: Next time you’re cleaning out your home, take a few minutes to separate items that could be donated. If you need help hauling them, that’s where we come in.
How You Can Give Back This Summer (and Beyond)
Looking for ways to get involved in your community? Here are a few ideas:
- Organize a neighborhood food drive and donate to your local food bank or US Hunger.
- Volunteer at a shelter, donation center, or charity thrift store.
- Support domestic violence shelters by donating essential household items or volunteering your time.
- Offer help after natural disasters by volunteering with cleanup efforts or donating supplies.
- Schedule a junk removal, donation pickup, or moving service with us, knowing a portion of your job helps provide meals and supports charitable giving.
