College Hunks and Hunkettes Sport the Color Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

Green and orange are the go-to colors for all things related to College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving. Every location of the junk removal and moving franchise, from uniform shirts to trucks, features the colors, as do College Hunks corporate offices and the Sales and Loyalty Center in Tampa, Florida.

In October, however, a new shade crept in, as College Hunks went pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“We wanted to spread the word and show our support for breast cancer research, and cancer research and treatment in general,” says Kim Roneree, HR and Recruiting Manager for College Hunks’ corporate team. “Many of us have friends or family who are battling or have battled this disease, and so we have seen first-hand the difficulties they face. This is a visible way for us to show our support.”

Pink is hard to miss

From NFL players’ shoes and towels to the thousands of people who take part in 5Ks and other fundraising activities, pink is hard to miss in October. Breast cancer research needs all the support it can get, because one in eight women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

The good news is that the survival rate for breast cancer, if it’s caught early, is very high. That’s why early detection through self examination and mammograms is so important. And that’s why wearing pink is a big deal. (For more information, click here.)

College Hunks gets on board

At the Tampa offices, College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving staff wore customized pink shirts every Friday (and other days) throughout October. The combination of the College Hunks logo and the power of pink sends a message that the whole team is ready to help, Kim says.

“At first, you wouldn’t tie a junk removal and moving franchise in with cancer research, but at College Hunks our goal is to move the world,” she says. “We also really work hard to build an amazing culture all across the College Hunks network. That means getting behind great causes like this one here in Tampa, and in all the communities we serve through our franchise owners and their teams. We are able to band together and do so much in all our locations, and it’s a great way for the entire College Hunks team to give back to the cities and towns that are so supportive of us.”
