What To Donate Instead Of Junk

What To Donate Instead Of Junk

The holiday season typically brings with it an overwhelming feeling of generosity and goodwill. Since your mind may be busy thinking of all the presents you still have to wrap and what will be on the menu for the big holiday family dinner, you likely don’t have junk removal at the top of your mind.

But what if we told you that, by tossing out a few things in your home, you can give back to the community you call home? That is, at least when you use our junk removal services to donate your belongings to charity! There are a number of things you should consider donating instead of full-on junking, such as:

Items to Donate Rather Than Junk

Clothing

Every closet could use a good cleaning out every now and again, and there’s no better time to downsize your wardrobe and donate some of your gently-worn clothing. Donate everything from shirts and sweaters to pants and shoes — but leave out any undergarments. It’s even better if you can clean out everyone in the family’s closet so you can donate clothing for different ages and genders.

Furniture

Do you have an old couch that you no longer use? Have you upgraded your child’s bedroom set and aren’t sure what to do with the old one? Replacing the desks in your office? There are plenty of organizations that will gladly welcome gently-used furniture for a number of different rooms.

Appliances

Whenever you decide to get rid of an appliance in your home, you typically need to schedule a special pickup since it’s a large object and electronics need to be disposed of properly. Instead of having your appliances go to a landfill or junkyard, donate them — as long as they still work! There are plenty of items that can be used by charitable groups in your community, including:

  • Refrigerators

  • Ovens

  • Washing machines

  • HVAC units

  • Dryers

At College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving, are partnered with several local charities and non-profits, including Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity ReStore®, and strive to donate as many items as we can to their facilities so that other local families can benefit from them. You donate, we deliver—it’s a win-win for everyone!
