3 Imperative Tips for Working College Students
Tip #1: Have Clear Goals
Ask yourself the following questions; how much money would you like to make in the next month/year/4 years? What experience do you want to gain from your job? How many classes will you take each semester? How much time will you need to study based on your class schedule? Use your answers to define the ideal job for you and what your ideal work schedule looks like.
Tip #2: Plan Your Time
Time is precious and you only have so much of it each and every day for your studies. You must start waking up earlier then you are now. Waking up early will allow you not to feel rushed in the morning to get to school/ work while lowering your stress levels. You also want to make a daily game plan each and every morning to help your efficiency throughout the day. What hours/ minutes will you have that you won’t have school or work? These specific times are for studying. Bring your books, laptop, and tablet everywhere you go. When you have your opportunity take advantage; your lunch break, between classes, passenger car rides etc… are all great times to study. Also, dedicate prolonged study hours and hold yourself accountable to them. It’s okay to say no to your friends’ birthday party or other events that don’t help towards your final goal of obtaining your degree. It will all be worth it in the long run.
Tip #3: Take Care of Yourself
The most important thing you can do to increase your productivity is to make the right choices when it comes to sleep, eating and exercise. Eating a balanced diet, going to the gym and getting a full 8 hours of sleep will ensure that your energy and stress levels are at the right levels to conquer the day. Going out all night, eating junk food with zero exercise is a surefire way to feeling stressed and overworked. You also want to make sure you set aside time to unplug. This time should be away from your electronic devices while making sure the activity brings a smile to your face.
