Move Into Spring With College Hunks Hauling Junk

Spring cleaning season is creeping up on us and moving season is rapidly approaching.

Did you know that half of all home and apartment moves take place between Memorial Day and Labor Day?

That means if moving is in your near future, it’s time to get organized NOW!

The kids are still in school, which gives you some extra time to plan for the unexpected. Packing breakables, cancelling utilities and phone and cable at one location and setting them up at another, changing your address on all paperwork, and… did you grab the cat?

Moving is a great time to purge your unwanted items. Since you’ll be going through all of your belongings anyway (and finding appliances and clothes you forgot you even had!), it’s a good bet that you’ll find more than a few items that you’re not going to need in your new home any more than you needed in your old one.

Ignoring and navigating that clutter saps your energy and prevents you from creating the personal space you see in your dreams. The first step in creating the home environment of your dreams is to know what you already have and to be able to locate things easily.

If your garage looks like it was left in the wake of a tornado, chances are it’s time for you to lose some of that excess junk.

Now some of you may be thinking,“Not me! Each item in my home is in perfect harmony with its surroundings.” Take another look around. Imagine what you could do with newly freed up space once you removed the non-essential items we all have in our homes and offices.

The first step in cutting the fat is to realize in your mind everything you have that needs to go. Don’t fall victim, not even one more time, to an “out of sight, out of mind” mentality.

Please, don’t just park your car and narrowly navigate the sea of toys, tools and clutter you’ve acquired in your garage. Please, don’t just close that closet door one more time with thoughts of “one day…”

Most people wait until it’s time to move to examine everything they have and ask themselves, “Do I honestly enjoy having this in my home, and when was the last time I put it to use?” I suspect your own insights may surprise you.

Three Steps to A Clutter Free Home

1. The first place I like to start is the closet. If you haven’t worn it in over a year or if it no longer fits, DONATE IT!

2. Next up can be the kitchen: wads of Wal-Mart bags, stale cereal, expired foods – clean out what you don’t need and organize what you do!

3. Garage? Tools and other supplies should have a static home; you should be able to locate the hammer at any given time, and the nails too. And what about all those storage boxes? What do you even have in those? If you can’t remember, then it’s probably time to let that box go.

This spring cleaning season, call the Hunks and let them help you find some old treasures and regain not only space around the home or office, but also your peace of mind. You can schedule your service with the hunks by calling 1-800-586-5872 or online.
