What Should I Do with my Old TV?

Whether you’ve had your television for the past 5 or 25 years, at some point, it comes time to upgrade to a newer model with better picture and sound quality. As you’re setting up your new 4K flatscreen with surround-sound, you shouldn’t (read: can’t) just toss your old TV to the curb. Luckily, there are plenty of alternative routes for getting rid of your old TV properly.

Sell It

If you’re simply upgrading to a better model or downsizing and have a relatively modern TV, why not try to make some of your money back? Post the TV on an online selling site or see if a friend or family member would like to buy it from you.

Donate It

If you’d like to do a little good in the world and help out those in need, consider donating your TV to a local community group or charitable organization. You can see if a senior living facility in your neighborhood could use the TV or have it donated to Goodwill so it can have a second life with someone who needs it.

What’s even better is that, most times, you don’t have to take the item you’re donating in yourself. Just look up your area on PickUpMyDonation.com and find a donation pick-up service. (Spoiler alert: we have a partnership with them, so we can take care of it for you!)

Recycle It

If your TV is too old or damaged to be donated, you should junk and recycle it. Rather than have your TV sit in some landfill, you need to have it disposed of safely so the metal, plastic, and electrical components do not have a negative effect on the environment.

You should find a junk removal company that practices eco-friendly disposal so you can ensure your old TV is recycled properly.

The College H.U.N.K.S.® team will always go the extra mile to ensure that your junk reaches the appropriate recycling facilities or donation centers. When you schedule us for recycling pickup and delivery, you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’ve done your part to help the environment. Get started with us today and request your free quote!
